Real Update

I know I've put up some videos lately, but here is a real update w/words & pictures! We have been keeping pretty busy around here. Back in September we went to the TN State Fair. Mike & I didn't get our hopes up for much, and turns out that's a good thing. The fair was awfully sad. So sad in fact, they aren't having one next year.
She did love the little chicks. The rabbits and chicks were her favorite.
Not loving the pigs though.
Now we can say we have been to the TN State Fair. Who knows if
we'll be able to go back though.Lexi got to meet my best friend from college! She had to come to Nashville for work and decided to come visit for another couple days.
Lexi enjoyed her time w/Karla!! Now she keeps asking me when Karla might give her a friend to play with. ;)
The three of us (all in pink!)
Papa & Grandma Grimes came for a visit! They came down over Mike's b-day weekend. It was pretty exciting... Saturday we got to watch the Hawkeyes play! What a great game!!
Grandma brought down Mike's old teddy bear for Lexi to have. She loves it! It was so sweet to see her cuddling with it right away.
I think it's safe to say Lexi has both of them wrapped around her finger. :)

Here are just a few other things Lexi has been up to...
Helping mom find coupons. :)
Just looking cute!
The past outfit & this one below are from her cousins Valerie & Natalie. It's so much fun having girl cousins that are willing to share their clothes! :)
Getting ready for fall/Halloween. Letting everyone know she is the cutest pumpkin!
And of course... still cheering for the Hawkeyes! (and looking super cute while doing it!)
That's what has been going on in our world. Still no crawling. And still only 2 teeth. She has really started becoming her own person. I think she might be a little dramatic. Not sure where that would come from... ha! Life with her is far beyond what we could have ever imagined! And I know it's only going to get better! We continue to thank the Lord for choosing to bless us with Lexi!!

I Have A Voice!!?

In the past few days Lexi has really started enjoying the sound of her own voice. Actually, she enjoys it so much that she wants to talk all the time. She was even trying to show off at the grocery store yesterday. I'm pretty sure the whole store got a free concert. :) She can get a little carried away at times. I can't imagine what it will be like when she really does start talking. No matter what though, it will always be a sweet sound for us to hear!

Peek-A-Boo

Lexi has learned a new game... Peek-A-Boo! Don't mind my voice in the video below. I just wanted to show off how smart she is. :) She really does understand what she is doing. It's too cute!!

This next video just shows how Lexi expresses her excitement. If she is excited, she moves her hands & feet constantly. I've never seen a baby move their feet so much as this girl.

Firsts

Lexi has been experiencing all sorts of "firsts" in her young life.

Taking her 1st ride in a laundry basket. She thought we were nuts. That's okay though... every baby needs to experience this. Her 1st tooth. Actually you should be able to see 2 bottom teeth in this picture. I never got a picture of the 1st all by itself.

1st pair of shoes
Why is this a big deal you ask? Lexi apparently has the world's smallest feet. She has never been able to fit into shoes. Not even newborn sized ones. Pretty exciting to say that at almost 8 months old, we can finally wear some CUTE shoes!
She had her 1st bath in the real bath tub.
She really enjoyed chewing on the blue bowl. By far her favorite part of this new bath time experience.
She has been gearing up for her 1st college (& pro) football season!
She's the cutest little Hawkeye ever!!!
COMING SOON...

Crawling???
She tries so hard at first. She eventually just gives up and ends up rolling to wherever she was wanting to go. Hopefully soon though!

MODELING
I don't know... maybe it's just because I'm her mom, but I sure think we could get her into baby modeling. Not that I would ever do that to my child, but these pictures sure make me think it wouldn't be a problem for her to do it.

So that is what has been going on in Lexi's world. In a couple weeks she gets to meet mommy's best friend Karla. And then Grandpa & Grandma Grimes are coming to visit for daddy's birthday. And next month is Halloween. I'm pretty excited to dress her up! There will be plenty of pictures to come. Lexi wants me to inform you that she misses her family!! And she would gladly share her room with anyone that would come & visit her! Nashville is really beautiful in the fall... :)

Videos

This is Lexi's newest toy. It was purchased so that mom could get a few things done during the day. And she has really started to LOVE it! At first she wasn't sure what to do, but then she started moving to the beat of the music. And now she jumps! It's so much fun to watch her!!

This is Lexi... when she is overly tired. She will laugh at anything. And it's so sweet... such a cute little laugh! I will take her laughing over crying any day!!

We're Back!

Sorry it's been so long since the last blog post. As I mentioned... Mike went on a missions trip for two weeks. While he was gone for those two weeks, Lexi & I headed up to Iowa to be w/family!! It was great getting to spend time w/both sides of the family. I never imagine though, that two weeks would come and go so quickly. It seems like we hardly saw people. But the time we did get to spend with family was wonderful! I had a problem though... whenever we went anywhere, I forgot the camera. And then after the 1st week I realized that battery was dying and couldn't find the battery charger anywhere. Go figure! :( All that to say- I don't have too many pictures and most of them are from hanging out at my parent's house. The pictures I do have from the past few weeks are posted below.

The time spent w/family went quickly, yet the time away from Mike went way too slow. We missed Daddy terribly. We thought we would be able to Skype. Unfortunately the internet in Bonaire rarely worked. When it did, Lexi was either napping or in bed for the night. It was pretty hard on all 3 of us, being apart that long. Hopefully we won't have to do that for awhile now! Lexi has been pretty excited to have her dad back! She doesn't like to let him too far out of her site.

So for the past week or so, we've just been trying to get back to normal life. All of our schedules are way off. Really exciting news... Lexi's 1st tooth has popped through. You can't see the whole tooth, just the top of it. That's good news. The bad news is that we are now into full-blown teething. It's kind of miserable. I wish there was some magic way to make all her teeth just appear. I keep reminding myself that she won't remember all this. Doesn't really make me feel that much better when she's crying though.

I think that's about all the exciting news. Thank you to everyone who prayed for Mike during his missions trip & for our family. There should now be more regular posts coming your way! :)

pictures

Lovin on Papa Steve
I'm going to guess baseball was on t.v. or something... Uncle Chad got a little distracted. :)
Lexi Bear & Uncle Tom
Sharing all sorts of secrets w/Abby
This girl loves books!!
She also loves being outside... everything is so new & exciting!

Superbaby

Lexi & Great Grandma Septer
more loving!
Valerie loved reading stories to Lexi

This is Lexi's newest headband. The picture does not do it justice... it is too cute for words!!
And since we've been home...
We've been reading even more books! (Notice that she is touching it w/her foot. Sometimes she will touch things w/her feet before her hands. Maybe she's part monkey??)
A sippy cup has been introduced. She doesn't really know what to make of it... not sure about the water that comes out of it.
Song time w/Daddy. She even sang along for part of it!
Before Daddy went on his trip, he buzzed his hair. Lexi has discovered how much fun it is to touch now.

We are now entering all sorts of mood-swings.
We have happy...
and sad...
and clingy...
And her shirt below sums up the reason for the moods. I guess she isn't our cuddly little baby anymore. Time goes by way to fast!
