What an eventful 1st week of Alexia's life. Here is what we have been up to the last 11 days.Of course... we have her birth on January 19th at 8:49pm. She weighed 8lbs 10oz and was 20.5 inches long. Her poor head was all bruised and beaten up from pushing for 3 hours and then deciding she wasn't coming out that way.
Our happy little family

We were at the hospital from Sunday night at 9:00pm till sometime early Thursday afternoon.

Her coming home outfit (and yes- her legs are normal- just got one tucked up in there. ha!)

Showing Lexi her new room!
On Friday we had to go to Lexi's doctor to have her biliruben levels checked. When we left the hospital she was pretty yellow and the count was at 14. Well, Friday around 5:30/6:00 we got a call from the doctor that we needed to head into the Children's ER. Her count came back at 22. So we got around and took her in. Talk about the worst night we have ever had.
At only 4 days old, she got her 1st IV. Her cry was the most painful thing I think Mike & I have ever experienced.
Then she had to sit in here with lights on her for 3 hours. Vanderbilt did there own blood tests and they came back at 17, I think. So they decided to not keep us over night. We have been to the doctor 2 times since then and her levels have come back down. He said it will take a couple weeks for all the yellow to go away, but we are just thrilled we don't have to worry about it getting worse!!!
Here she is in her little Pooh bag. It eats her alive, but is super cute!

1st "sponge" bath

All clean!!!

Daddy picked out this sleeper... can you tell?

So after all the doctor visits and my parents leaving, we are finally getting the hang of this baby stuff! We sure do have the snuggling part down pretty well!! There hasn't been a moment in the past 11 days that we haven't given thanks to the Lord for Alexia. What an honor that He chose us to be her parents and has given us the responsibility of living a Godly life in front of her teaching her about the gift of salvation!

  1. What wonderful pictures! I love the "tree frog" pictures at the end, I have ones just like that of Maggie. It's so sweet to cuddle with your baby when they are that small!
